My Birthday in Pictures!

Yesterday was my birthday, whoop whoop, hurray for me! :)
I had a wonderful day thanks to James of course, but I was also really happy about all the sweet texts, emails, phone calls and facebook messages from my friends and family, they really made my day! Thanks everyone, love you!

Here's my day in pictures:
In the morning James played me the "Lisa, it's your birthday"-song from the Simpsons. He does that every year, I love it! I also got lots of pressies! Here's me opening a voucher for a Mexican spa treatment, really excited about that!
The best present was a new lens for my dslr camera, yay! PS. it's 7 am in this photo, hence the scruffy look! :)
After a shower and some make-up, tadaa!
Then it was time to try my new lens! It's a Sony DT50mm F1.8, portrait lens.
I was blown away by the lens! It's stupid good! It can literally make a toilet roll look great. Just look at this photo of the box it came in, doesn't it look amazing?!
Then I went in to town to do some shopping...
but first I treated myself to a birthday-crepe with vanilla ice cream, pear, chocolate sauce and almonds, mmm!
Then I had a massage at the Hilton Hotel Spa, including a glass of champagne afterwards, fancy!
This is what I bought; black top with shoulder bling from Zara, black shorts from Zara also, and two stripey tops from Primark (£2,50 each!). The top will be perfect for my friend Meera's 80's themed birthday party in September. PS, have you noticed how weird the sizes at Zara are? Those shorts I had to buy in large (wanted them to be a bit loose), but the top is small... doesn't even make sense!
Back home James greeted me with flowers, so sweet!
And then we had the best sushi dinner ever! We drank Sancerre wine, it's our favourite white wine.
James serving the wine.
I love sushi!
Salmon sashimi...
and vegetable goyza are my favourite, so James ordered extra because it was my birthday!
Edamame beans, notice how great the photos look! Maybe I should become a food photographer?

The best boyfriend in the world!
And moi! That was my birthday, a great day!

My ♥ of the Week

...is Bows!
I ♥ bows and bow ties, they are retro cute, sassy and can really make an otherwise dull outfit pop.

I'm Lucky!

On my street there's an older gentleman who always wishes people luck when they walk by, or he says that you're lucky. He puts his thumbs up and say's "Be lucky!" or sometimes: "You're lucky!" He has become quite famous in the area.

My boyfriend told me he had met this man on several occasions and he always wished him luck. He even did the thumbs-up to James when he drove past in his car.

I had never been treated to this gesture... until today! As I walked home from the corner-shop I heard someone shout from across the street: "Hey Blondie! Be lucky!" I looked over and there he was with his thumb in the air. Yay!

Thanks Lucky-Guy!

Sketch

Tonight I went to a restaurant/club called Sketch to check out an animated installation made by a company called Silent Studios. I'm probably gonna work with them in September so it was great to meet the creative director Nathan and to see some of their work. The animations were projected all over the walls in the restaurant, very cool! (the pictures don't really do them justice).

A funny thing about Sketch are the toilets! They are possible the weirdest toilets ever. Or the coolest, that depends on how you see it!

The stairs leading up to the toilets... they are actually in the 'eggs!'
James is lost in the egg-forest!
To make it even more surreal they play bird twitter in the cocoons while you pee, and an old-fashioned maid looks after them.
There's also an egg-bar!

Little London Fields Festival

Yesterday I met up with Josefine at the V&A Museum, we were going to have a look at the winners of the V&A illustration awards. Unfortunately it was a bit crap, but we enjoyed the back "garden" of the museum were we had ice cream and climbed in this tree sculpture, I felt like a kid again!
Beautiful hortensia en masse!

Then we went to Hackney to check out a free festival called Little London Fields Festival. We were pleasantly surprised when we realised it was right opposite of the lovely Broadway market.
The market had lots of food stalls, plus hand made jewellery, soaps and other things. This was like a coffee machine motorcycle (or something) were you could buy an espresso! So cute!
We had paella, and then churros for dessert (with thick chocolate sauce dip). It was so good I can't even describe it!

Josie checking out some nice prints...
and bags...
and knitted ice cream cones!
This girl sold hand made brooches and hair accessories. I love the way she looks! She looks like a different species...
For £3 you could paint a gnome if you wanted to... we gave it a skip!
We listened to up-and-coming bands, some were actually good!
Josefine's friend Kayleigh came along.
it was more relaxed than most festivals, a lot of people brought their kids. These must be the cutest twin babies ever! So adorable!

What a fun day!
